Ontario wine has come a very long way in a dramatically short time. The single most important factor in the advance in quality of Ontario wines has been the introduction of the VQA. This appellation and standard setting system has laid the course for global recognition of Ontario wines.

At this tasting, we are pleased to present a number of the gold medal winners from the 2002 Ontario Wine Awards, formerly the Air Ontario Awards, competition held on May 10, 2002 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto. Our own Sadie Darby was instrumental in facilitating organization into a process involving over 300 wines. This annual competition, instituted seven years ago, is the only one of its kind in Canada as it is open exclusively to VQA designated wines that have been produced from Ontario grown grapes.

Acclaimed wine expert - Konrad Ejbich, writer, editor and judge, will lead this tasting event. Konrad has been involved in multiple facets of the Canadian wine making industry for over 20 years, and most recently the editor of Wine Tidings magazine. Konrad has also been a judge at every annual Ontario Wine Awards Competition to date.

The Tasting Rooms will be preparing a special selection of appetizers that will, as always, superbly compliment these wines.

Dinner is available after the tasting with selections from a special tasting menu.

Free parking is available at First Canadian Place. Enter from York or Adelaide Street and have your ticket validated at the restaurant.
