UPDATE: Please Note that as of January 3, 2006, this event is SOLD OUT. With new wineries popping up all over the region, it's hard to get out and try them all. Let us bring five of the new ones to you. We'll try wines from Stratus Vineyards, Fielding Estate Winery, Flat Rock Cellars, the Mike Weir Winery, and Tawse Winery. Each of the wineries' boutiques were opened within this year, except the Mike Weir Winery; to open in summer 2006. Suzanne Janke of Stratus Vineyards will be hosting us, and representatives from each of the wineries will be on hand to discuss their wines selected for this event.
But we'll start our tasting with a little taster from one of the oldest kids on the block, Inniskillin, with their 2003 Seeger Vineyard Old Vines Riesling. This wine is made from the first vines that Donald Ziraldo and Karl Kaiser planted in 1970. Our tasting will be held at Stratus in their new, modern building. "Winemaking at Stratus is led by J-L Groux. A native of the Loire Valley in France, J-L has been honoured as 'Ontario Winemaker of the Year' and is renowned for his passion for creating distinctive wines based on the principle of assemblage." Afterwards, stay as we end the evening with some fabulous nibblies prepared by one of Niagara's fantastic caterers.
