The Ontario Wine Society Presents
The Niagara Chapter's June Event
Matching Wine and Cheese Tasting

At Caroline Cellars, 1028 Line 2, Niagara-on-the-Lake

Date: Tuesday, June 21, 2005; 6:30pm Reception, 7:00pm Tasting
Members: $25     Non-Members: $30

Welcome in the First Day of Summer with us as we explore the magic of wine and cheese pairings at Caroline Cellars. Summer is a great time for wine and cheese gatherings. Come and learn which wines pair well with which cheeses by pairing the wines of Caroline Cellars with artisanal cheeses from The Cheeseboard.

Our guest speaker, Sam Wiebe will lead us through this tasting. Sam is the Sommelier at 17 Noir at the new casino and a graduate of the Sommelier program at Brock University. In addition, she is a co-owner of The Cheeseboard in Vineland (selling premium cheeses). What better person to describe the marriage of wine and cheese than someone who does so in her own life.

"Located in the outskirts of Niagara on the Lake, Caroline Cellars is one of the newest additions to the Niagara Winescape. They take pride in four generations of grape growing tradition in order to produce wines for all to enjoy. Caroline Cellars is built and named in honour of the late Caroline Lakeit, beloved mother and grandmother. In 1978 Caroline Lakeit stood behind her son's dream: to own his own farm. Twenty-five years later the Lakeit family (Caroline's son Rick, his wife Elfriede, and their four children - Justine, Stephanie, Rick Jr. and Jaclyn) still reside on, and make a living off, that same piece of property. That same vineyard now produces an abundance of grapes for Caroline Cellars' wine, and has also become home to the winery itself."
