The Niagara Chapter's "Show us your Hybrids" Tasting at Caroline Cellars Winery, 1028 Line 2, Niagara-on-the-Lake

Ok, so you think you have it all figured out. You may even have your taste buds trained to identify the Vitis Vinifera varietals and even remember what Labrusca grapes were all about. But can you identify a Hybrid? These hearty crossbreeds are designed to be resistant to cold, disease, and pests. What more could a winemaker ask for? How about great tasting wine and a strong "cult following"! We'll be tasting hybrids like Baco Noir, Marechel Foch, Vidal, and more; including a tank sample of Caroline Cellars' yet-to-be-bottled Chambourcin. Justine Lakeit will be on hand to explain and answer any questions you may have on each Caroline Cellars' wine.
Our guest speaker Dr. K. Helen Fisher - Viticulture - University of Guelph/Vineland, will present a short tutorial on hybrids before she leads us through the tasting. Attendees this night will be fortunate enough to get to try some of Helen's additional samples that she will be bringing along.
The knowledgeable staff at Caroline Cellars welcomes you to come out and enjoy their rustic facilities as we enjoy our evening in the loft and stroll on the open air balcony. Caroline Cellars is one of Niagara's many wineries, which has flourished from generations of grape farming in Ontario. Is was built and named in honour of the late Caroline Lakeit, beloved mother of Owner Rick and his wife Elfriede. Still honoring great family tradition, the Lakeit children - Justine, Stephanie, Rick Jr. and Jaclyn work side by side to continue the family legacy.

Exit the QEW at Exit Hwy 55 / Niagara stone Road (Exit 38B). and follow the signs to Hwy. 55.
Follow Hwy 55 to Virgil. The first set of traffic lights in Virgil is at the intersection of Hwy.
55 and Four Mile Creek Rd. Turn right onto Four Mile Creek Road. The third street on your left
is Line 2 (Bradfield Road). Turn left onto Line 2 and follow for just over a kilometre.
Caroline Cellars will be on your left.
