The Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute is offering the Ontario Wine Society this unprecedented tasting opportunity. This will be a historic first tasting, outside of Brock University, of Ontario wines from the Canadian Wine Library.

The Library wines have been acquired and cellared by Brock University's Cool Climate Oenology and Viticultural Institute in their Inniskillin Hall. The Canadian Wine Library is an incorporated, permanent, revolving collection of Ontario's finest VQA wines judged ageable by the directors of the library, to be used by the industry for promotional, research and educational purposes.

This is a great learning opportunity to see how a classic grape like Riesling ages and how stronger and weaker vintages handle time in the bottle. The wines that we will taste on this evening are:

  • 1994 Cave Spring Riesling
  • 1994 Henry of Pelham Riesling
  • 1995 Cilento Riesling
  • 1995 Lakeview Riesling
  • 1996 VP Cellars (Creekside) Riesling
  • 1996 Hillebrand Trius
  • 1997 Pillitteri Riesling
  • 1997 Strewn Reserve Riesling
  • 1998 Stoney Ridge Riesling Reserve
  • 1998 Inniskillin Riesling Reserve

One or more of the following Canadian Wine Library board members will be on hand to lead the tasting.

Tony Aspler, journalist/educator
Peter Gamble, co-chair and wine consultant
Jean Pierre Colas, winemaker
Andy Reynolds, CCOVI

Please Note: We deferred the "glass" event when the opportunity arose to taste these unique "library" wines.

The Tasting Rooms will be preparing a special selection of appetizers that will, as always, superbly compliment these wines.

Dinner is available after the tasting with selections from a special tasting menu.

Free parking is available at First Canadian Place. Enter from York or Adelaide Street and have your ticket validated at the restaurant.

For information only, call the Wine Line 416-921-9798. Reservations will not be taken over the phone.
