Taking the Mystery out of Wine and Food Pairing

While wine and food matching isn't rocket science, it's true that certain combinations can wreak havoc with your taste buds. There are ways, however, to mediate the marriage. Come and learn a simple but sure strategy that will take the mystery out of pairing and put the pleasure back in. Discover how you can drink any wine with any food and love the match.

Join Brock University's Dr. Linda Bramble, from the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI) on her return visit as an OWS guest speaker, and learn while you sip and savour.

The range of Vincor wines will run the gamut from sparkling, blush, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Meritage to port style. This is an interactive experience unlike any the Ontario Wine Society has offered in the past. Linda will lead you through an invaluable exercise during which you will experience dozens of wine and food pairings. Learn how small taste adjustments can make your food and wine marriages perfect. Sound amazing? It is! Come join us for this exciting learning experience!

After the seminar, we will enjoy a selection of delicious appetizers prepared for us by Terry Kennedy, Executive Chef of The Tasting Rooms. They will be: grilled pesto marinated shrimp brochette, chicken satay with spicy peanut dipping sauce, vegetable spring roll with chili ginger dipping sauce, grilled beef marinated in soya honey-ginger sauce, stilton cheese and walnuts in puff pastry, fresh spinach and feta cheese baked in phylo pastry.

Following our event, The Tasting Rooms is offering OWS members a 'Tasting Plate' of venison pie, grilled quail with sundried tomatoes, Thai shrimp coconut curry with pineapple, fresh market vegetables and steamed basmati rice at the special rate of $25.00 per person, plus tip and taxes.

Free parking is available at First Canadian Place. Enter from York or Adelaide Street and have your ticket validated at the restaurant.

Due to the additional space required for this seminar we can accept only 80 reservations. Thus, each OWS member can bring only one guest to this event. Reservations will be on a first come first serve basis & you will be notified by phone if your reservation cannot be accepted.
