Toronto Chapter

New Kids on the Block & Annual General Meeting    May 12, 2008

Join us for our Sixth Annual "New Kids on the Block" tasting event. Here’s where we showcase a number of Ontario’s newest wineries. Six wineries that represent the latest additions to VQA wines in Ontario will be featured. Join us for this casual event as we taste our way through this great selection of wines. Meet the winemakers and owners from these new wineries and hear about their beginnings, and taste what the future holds for them!

Bus Trip to Prince Edward County    June 7, 2008

Please Note: This event is now SOLD OUT!

This year our annual bus trip will be visiting Prince Edward County (aka The County). The last 2 years were sold out; this year we anticipate the same (bus maximum 52 people). Prince Edward County (PEC), between Toronto & Kingston, is an island that juts out into Lake Ontario, and is the most recent Ontario VQA designated area. The land is a limestone plateau, ideal for growing Pinot Noir. As well as having us do the driving, you will have that unique opportunity to buy wines only available at the winery as well as new releases. We include brunch on the bus, 3 private tastings, 1 tour and lunch with wine. Book early and don't miss out!

Niagara Chapter

Changing Face of Sauvignon Blanc at Peninsula Ridge Winery    Tuesday May 20, 2008

As we approach the warm spring season, so does the taste for fresh, crisp whites to sip in the garden. If there was ever a wine produced to be enjoyed young it is the Sauvignon Blanc with its sharp acidity and fresh herbatious notes. However, oak aging and other winemaking techniques, not traditionally associated with this grape, are enhancing its characteristic factors including age-ability and the taste profile. We will be sampling Sauvignon Blanc wines produced in stainless steel tanks and those subjected to oak aging.
