The Wine Appellations of Ontario Course

The Wine Council of Ontario, www.winesofontario.org, has developed a course to educate people who work in the Ontario wine industry and the public who want to know more about growing grapes in Ontario and making and tasting wine made from 100% Ontario grapes.

The Wine Council is pleased to offer the manual for this course to Ontario Wine Society members at the same price that the Wine Council offers it to people in the industry. The manual is soft-cover and 8.5” x 11” with 140 illustrated pages. This course can cost up to $50 elsewhere.

Here is a list of the sections of the manual.
I)    THE WINE APPELATIONS OF ONTARIO
II)   THE VINEYARD
III)  WINE MAKING: FROM VINEYARD TO BOTTLE
IV)  WINETASTING, THE BASICS; TIPS AND THEMES
V)   WHICH WINE SHOULD I CHOOSE?
VI)  WINE AND FOOD MATCHING

You can purchase the manual just to read and learn. You also have the option to write an exam that is based on the material in the manual. And, if you pass with a score of 86% or more, you will receive a certificate from the Wine Council of Ontario.

If you live in the Niagara area, you can write the exam at the Wine Council’s office in St. Catharines - 110 Hannover Drive, Suite B205. If you live in Halton or Toronto, arrangements will be made for you to write the exam in the GTA.

The price for the manual is $10.00 plus $1.30 HST = $11.30. There is a postage charge of $3.70 added to bring the total to $15.00.

Please note: You have to be a member of the Ontario Wine Society to order this manual. If you are not, click here to join. Membership is $40 for the first year and $30/year thereafter.
